Oil paint and spray paint on a wooden surfboard

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Zupi Magazine, the “25+25” Exhibition, held at Zupi Space in São Paulo, brought together visual artists, illustrators, and figures from the worlds of urban art and design in a group show that transformed skateboard decks into canvases for artistic creation.

For the exhibition, Luna Buschinelli presented “Fronteira, ” a work created in oil and acrylic on wood. Inspired by the Japanese concept of shoshin, or “beginner’s mind,” the painting reflects on hyperconnectivity and the way in which an excess of stimuli can compromise our ability to observe and be surprised by the world.

The work offers an exercise in presence and curiosity, inviting the viewer to rediscover the wonder of everyday life. In the context of the skateboard deck, this reflection takes on a symbolic dimension: just as learning to skateboard requires accepting imbalance and falling, cultivating an open mind means recognizing that experience does not eliminate the possibility of discovering, making mistakes, and starting over.
